Pet Luxury Makes it Debut in Year of the Dog 2006

As 2006 comes to a close, the Year of the Dog saw an explosion in the luxury pet industry. The first ever New York Pet Fashion Week www.petfashionweek.com was hosted in the Chelsea district in downtown New York. Cheeky, bold and fashionable, the Saturday night fashion show saw incredible fashion for both pets and humans. The major charity element was the Black Tie Fundraiser that took place on August 19, 2006. The event raised $15,000 for The Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals, Inc. through ticket sales, a grand silent auction and an art exhibition/auction. Fashion forward, this event kept the welfare of abandon and neglected pets front and center. All exhibitors were jury selected and invited to this event. Chic Paws was proud to participate in the debut of what appears to be a lasting trend. All of the designers that Chic Paws represents are from Europe.
